ASBURY PARK BOARDWALK | Madison Marquette appointed WORKHOUSE, CEO Adam Nelson as the waterfront's first Director of Communications for the Asbury Park Boardwalk from 2016-2018. In this position, Nelson served as Asbury Park Boardwalk’s brand ambassador providing strategic planning and management across national marketing mediums and platforms. Aspects included the promotion of specialty events, experiential marketing, consumer outreach, public relations, and social media messaging. He also supported Madison Marquette’s leasing efforts through the development of cutting edge collateral to communicate the unique qualities of the Asbury Park Boardwalk. He led Waterfront communications on behalf of Madison Marquette including next phase of development of Asbury Park’s historic Fifth Avenue Pavilion and Band shell beyond creative cultivation of personal still photography, concert & celebrity video coverage, social media campaigns, print advertising, feature and short films. He was instrumental in the formation of Roller Hall, a roller skating experience inside historic Convention Hall, the outdoor Asbury Athletic Club located on the Sunset Avenue Green Space, Upper Deck Shuffleboard Club, conceiving and producing the feature film "Local Legends" which aired during the Asbury Music & Film Festival in advance of Little Steven Van Zandt's sold-out performance.
During his tenure Asbury Park was the recipient of an avalanche of media including being named “Coolest Small Town in America” by Budget Travel Magazine and “Best Boardwalk in America” by Bella Magazine. it was been referred to as “Brooklyn on the Beach” by the New York Times, one of the “Best Places to Travel Worldwide” by Travel + Leisure, “16 Places Everyone Will be Talking About” by Yahoo, “A Travel Guide to Asbury Park, the Brooklyn of the Jersey Shore” by Vogue, “Best Weekend Getaway” by TimeOut, “A Break from New York” by Conde Nast Traveller, “Asbury Park is Coming Back, With Better Food Than Ever” by Saveur to name a few. In 2018, the 25th Annual Asbury Music Awards presented it's "Top Music Website/Facebook in Support of Live Original Music" trophy to APBoardwalk in celebration of his efforts.
