Toronto, Canada– New York City nightclub legend Peter Gatien has set up shop in Toronto to launch CiRCA, a one-of-a-kind nightclub and entertainment venue that will link Toronto to the global meccas of New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo. Located at 126 John Street in the heart of the nightclub district, the four-story, 55,000 square foot space is already being referred to as Gatien’s magnum opus. True to form, Gatien has put together a high-caliber team which includes award-winning NYC design firm AvroKO; Kidrobot Founder Paul Budnitz; former Drake Hotel Arts & Entertainment Director Jeff Rogers; and GEM Events’ Craig Pettigrew, promoter in Montreal and Toronto for trance legend DJ Tiësto; production designer Kenny Baird; avant-garde designer and architect Joakim Hannerz, and others. The state-of-the-art space is poised to become an arts, entertainment, and fashion showcase unlike anything else in the world. To schedule a construction tour, or an interview with Peter Gatien please contact Workhouse Publicity, publicists Kara Hughett or Lauren Gould directly at 212. 645. 8006 or via email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
Known as the King of Clubs for his wildly successful United States nightclubs including New York’s Limelight, Tunnel, Club USA, and the Palladium, Gatien’s plans for Toronto are his most adventurous yet. The multi-tiered event and entertainment space is set to become a cultural tour-de-force incorporating elements of art, design, architecture, cinema, and music. While the space will function as an entertainment venue and nightclub on weekends, it will also offer a rich itinerary of arts and cultural events throughout the week.
“We wanted to create something in Toronto that would foster cultural expression on a grand scale,” says Peter Gatien, the renowned NYC nightclub owner. “CiRCA will bring a new level of experience to this city by creating a focal point that will attract this generation’s leading cultural architects from around the globe. We are building an accessible showcase of what’s cutting edge in culture, music, fashion, art, and society – it’s a party you’re not going to want to miss.”
While the new venue will retain some of the structural features of the former mega-arcade including swooping balconies and two escalators, extensive interior renovations will transform the space into a state-of-the-art, interactive venue. A few of the planned features include an interactive digital bar, a cinema screening room, an in-house recording studio, constantly changing art and video installations, and of course entertainment from some of the world’s top musicians and DJs.
