FRITZ BRUN
Fritz Brun, one of the most prominent celebrities in the Swiss music scene in the first half of the twentieth century, was born in Lucerne on 18 August 1878. After studying music in Cologne, Berlin and London, he initially taught piano in various cities, including Berne, where he became chairman of the Berne Musical Society in 1909. He composed ten symphonies in the tradition of Brahms and Bruckner. Much respected and honored, the award-winning musician retired to Morcote (Switzerland), where he was unflagging in composing right up to his death in 1959.
