DO IT YOURSELF QEE
Five colors, one toy. Children from all around the world are able to express their unique sense of creativity and a vision of what their personal Qee should look like… During the Toy2R Worldwide Tour, a jury of prestigious designers will choose the best of the Do It Yourself Qee’s. The winner will have a chance to see that design produced as an actual toy. The contest started in March 2005. Kids under the age of 16 were able to choose a DIY Qee set in their favorite colors including blue, red, yellow, green, pink or blue and design their own personal custom urban toy.
Toy2r
Created out of an obsession to put toys in a art context, Hong Kong-based Toy2R is systematically breaking down the borders between product design, art and graphics.Founded by toy mastermind Raymond Choy in 1995, with an international perspective, Toy2r is the very first company to see the potential and focus on the designer toy phenomenon, combining art and developing Vinyl Toys for the toy market. Since 2001, Toy2r has been a focal point for collectors of Designer Vinyl toys. We continue to grow with new, upcoming and well-known artists, working together on many projects, such as Qee, Knuckle Bear, Rolitoland, Hayon, Angel Devil, OXOP and many, many more. Toy2R has also made Qees for such renown companies as Adidas, Benneton, Cadbury, Swatch, SONY, Nokia & United Artists as well as having run “Qee Design Contests” aimed at the general public. Most of the designs that come out of Toy2R are limited in number to up the collectible factor. Their most popular series to date is the Qee line of 2.5 inch key-chain figures, providing a smooth, white 3-dimensional canvas for artists to explore and exploit. Toy2R has won “Best Block Toy’s award” 3 years running, Most Innovative Company, and two Toygodd Crystal awards from one of the largest all around toy sites on the internet, Action Figure Times. The Art Qee phenomenon has already hit worldwide with many immensely successful gallery tours, followed by the international Qeedrophonic exhibit in 2004.
