Spike Gallery proudly presents an exhibition of work
by Patrick McMullan. This premiere exhibition of photographs
from his new book so8os: A Photographic Diary of A Decade (powerhouse
Book) is a collection of black and white photographs illustrating
McMullan’s relentless documentation of New York City nightlife throughout
the 1980’s. A compilation of retrospective images widely believed
to McMullan’s most celebrated and historical which include snapshots
from fashion, politics, music and artistic revolution. As well, the book
contains an eccentric mix of elite affairs both uptown and down. The consummate
insider, Patrick McMullan’s coffee-table stunner chronicles notables
with an intimacy obtained from behind the proverbial velvet rope. From
intriguing unknowns to the celebrated, McMullan has captured the legends
of our time including Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Madonna, Debbie
Harry, Bianca Jagger, Grace Jones, Cookie Mueller, Liza Minnelli, Francesco
Clemente, Halston, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Calvin Klein, John F Kennedy
Jr, Ozzy Osbourne and more. A decade of endless parties, so8os
is an entrance into a world that most have heard about but only few have
entered. Patrick McMullan’s photography career began in the early
1980’s as a photographer for Details Magazine with an Instamatic
camera and through the encouragement of Andy Warhol. One of the world’s
most celebrated event, fashion and society photographers, his illustrious
career has spanned more than 30 years. The exhibition consists of over
80 black and white prints in various sizes. All prints are made with Kodak
Professional Endura Metallic Paper. For additional information please
