ASSOULINE IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE NO SMOKING
USA- Assouline Publishing, the illustrated book publishing house behind such socially relevant titles as Claude B. Levonson 's Symbols of Tibetan Buddhism, Elaine Ducasse 's Harvesting Excellence, and Malek Chebel 's Symbols of Islam will release a new title this Fall No Smoking by Luc Sante, For decades, smoking has been associated with freedom, elegance, or insolence. Born in the late 19 th century and heavily demonized in the 21 st century, the cigarette's history coincides with a century of glamour and industry. Today, in most Western countries smoking is considered a provocation, a shameful urge - almost uncool. No Smoking is a social retrospective on the cigarette – its momentous birth, its alluring peak its and disreputable downfall.
