USA- Assouline Publishing, the illustrated book publishing house behind such cutting-edge titles as Rena Sindi's Be My Guest; Theme Party Savior Faire, Chef Daniel Boulud: Cooking in New York City; Brooke De Ocampo's Bright Young Things, Lee Radziwill's Happy Times, Oscar De La Renta, The T-Shirt book, Hotel Stories, In The Spirit of the Hamptons, The Allure of Women and The Little Black Dress will release Le Corbusier by Elisabeth Vedrenne. Le Corbusier is the architect of this century. His perpetual interest in the lifestyle of his contemporaries and his artistic dimension make him stand out among other masters and constitute his genius. In the 1930s, he built the famous Purist Villas sculpture-houses that are still fascinating today. He invented comfort and space in the cells of his Unités d'habitation, radiant cities that are often deprecated but rarely equaled. He turned concrete into a noble material. He built a chapel as moving as a cathedral, a hut beyond perfection, and even an entire city in Northern India. A pragmatic and visionary architect, Le Corbusier shook up our era with his vast and ever changing body of work, which still permeates our everyday life.

An art critic and journalist, Elisabeth Vedrenne specializes in contemporary art, design and architecture. She has contributed to a number of publications (Maisons et Jardins, Air France Madame, La Mode en peinture, Elle Décoration, ArtPress), was Section Manager at Décoration internationale and associate editor at Beaux-Arts Magazine and L'‘il. She is the author of Fauteuils et Canapés (MAD-CAP Publication, 1998) and Demeures secretes de Venise (Albin Michel/Thames & Hudson, 1990).
