USA- Assouline Publishing, the illustrated book publishing house behind such elegant and stylish titles as Rena Sindi's Be My Guest, Lee Radziwill's Happy Times, Dolce & Gabbana’s Hollywood, and Linda Fargo’s Dreams Through The Glass will release a new title for their Fashion Memoire Series titled Emilio Pucci by Mariuccia Casadio. Inspired by athletic wear and the bright flags used during horse races, Emilio Pucci designed unmistakable prints using combinations of bold colors and geometric shapes. Fashioned into silk jersey dresses that flattered the female figure these light, versatile sheaths became all the rage amon the international jet set of the ë60s. Pretty soon Pucci prints appeared everywhere- on shoes, purses, luggage, billfolds, bathing suits, nightgowns, and bras and bikini underpants. Then, between 1960 and 1970, Pucci's designs underwent a transformation: previously reserved for an enthusiastic elite, they became a mass phenomenon. Through the use of new types of fabrics, Pucci helped liberate women from girdles and padding, ushering in an extraordinary chapter in modern culture. AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
Mariuccia Casadio is a freelance journalist for Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue, Casa Vogue , and Glamour. In 1998, she directed the exhibition A Noir at the Milan Trienniale, and since 1989 she has taught the history of fashion and semiology at the European Institute of Design in Milan.
