USA- Assouline Publishing, the illustrated book publishing house behind such cutting-edge titles as Rena Sindi's Be My Guest; Theme Party Savior Faire, Chef Daniel Boulud: Cooking in New York City; Brooke De Ocampo's Bright Young Things, Lee Radzwill's Happy Times, Oscar De La Renta, The T-Shirt book, Hotel Stories, In The Spirit of the Hamptons, The Allure of Women and The Little Black Dress will release Eames by Brigitte Fitoussi. Pioneers of the 1950's and of the optimistic American way of life, Charles and Ray Eames created the greatest modern furniture "classics" between 1941 and 1978. They designed more than 20 chair models, mostly unique pieces, and developed know-how in the art of sitting. The Plywood Chairs LCW and DCW (1946), the Aluminium Group (1958) and the Lounge Chair (1956) have become true symbols of design that remain references today. Still produced today, they inspire the admiration of new generations to convey the generous social ideal of their designers. The wholehearted dedication of Charles and Ray Eames to creating beautiful and top-quality mass-market products, and the joy imparted through their free forms, gave rise to the myth of a human and sensual modernity. A mythical couple, probably one of the most productive and creative of the 20th century.

Brigitte Fitoussi is an architect, journalist and exposition commissioner. She was section director of the magazine l'Architecture aujourd'hui from 1984 to 1998, and currently works for many French and foreign magazines. She is the author of several works dedicated to design and architecture: Memphis ("Mémoire du style," Assouline, 1998), Les Boutiques à Paris: vitrines d'architecture (co-direction of work, Picard, 1997), Martin Sekely Meublier-designer (AFAA, 1995), Objets affectifs : le nouveau design de la table (Hazan, 1993), Hôtels (Le Moniteur, 1992), and Boutiques (Le Moniteur, 1998).
