of Women and The Little Black Dress will release Codognato
by Pierre Hebey. Codognato jewelers
has been a landmark of Venice for over a century. It remains a distinguished
island in a city whose heart has tended to erode. In 1866 Simeone
Codognato decided to open his shop in the very same spot where
it stands today. More than a business venture, it was an act of faith.
Simeone's son immediately understood the considerable interest of the
jewels unearthed by contemporary archaeological digs in Etruria and this
inspired him to create revolutionary new jewelry. Attilio Codognato,
the current owner, closely follows creative evolutions and welcomes to
his display windows everything that strikes his imagination. A man of
impeccable taste, he is also a specialist in contemporary painting.
Pierre Hebey is a lawyer, art collector and writer. Several of his books
have been published in Paris by Gallimard, including L'Esprit N.R.F.;
La N.R.F. des années sombres (prix Chateaubriand); Une
seule femme;
Le confident débordé Gardez-moi les journaux; Le
goût
de l'inactuel (Nouvelles Coquecigrues); Alger 1898 (Nil Edition,
prix Lyautey). He has collaborated with Max Ernst, particularly on Festin
(Alphonse Chave Éditeur), and with Bram Van Velde on Le
mot buvette et Le Pierrot, les beaux-arts et la mort (Yves Riviere Éditeur).
